Real Food Recipe: Healthy Baked Brussels Sprouts

Baked Brussel SproutsBrussels sprouts get a bad rap. They’re touted as “smelly,” “mushy,” and often, even “gross.”
That’s just not true!
As long as you cook brussels sprouts properly, they can actually be a really delicious side dish. They go well with steak, chicken and pork, or you can even munch on these crispy treats as a healthy snack.
Want to give them a whirl? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Preheat your oven to 400.
  • Take your brussels sprouts, and peel off the dark outer leaves from each one. Then, trim the stems off, and cut each sprout in half.
  • Place the cut sprouts in a large plastic bag, and drizzle your olive oil over top. Add in your salt and pepper, close the bag, and shake lightly until all the sprouts are covered.
  • Place brussels on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, and bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes. Be sure to shake the pan a few times throoughout to make sure the sprouts brown evenly.

When done, they should be crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Remove them from the oven, and serve them up!
