Gratitude is the Attitude!
Choosing this attitude enables you to acknowledge the positive aspects of your life – whether it’s friends, material goods, or opportunities – and to view something from a different point of view. It can assist you in putting things in perspective. When you have a negative thought such as “I hate my job,” you can choose to turn that thought into “I am happy that I have a job!”
Whenever you find yourself looking at things in your life as miserable and difficult, instead choose think of them as exciting and challenging! Start to perceive obstacles as opportunities to learn, grow, change and improve.
When you emanate an attitude of gratitude it is the same vibration as the energy of love. When you practice a mindset of appreciation you will let go of doubt and fear and live in the presence of everything that feels right and good and is right and good. The act of giving thanks will cause you to feel happy, and this happy feeling is your soul’s way of letting you know that gratitude is part of your innate make up. As you live with gratitude, your view of the world and yourself will completely change, and your circumstances, situations and relationships will be altered forever.
When you practice an attitude of gratitude you will see everything in your life as a miracle, and you will become much more aware of how many opportunities and possibilities are before you. You will look at the things that are rich and positive instead of poor and fearful. It strengthens your body, mind and heart, and you will begin to attract those situations and people into your life that are also positive and soul enriching.
Here are some important ways to practice an attitude of grattitude:
- Keep a gratitude journal. Every night, before you go to sleep, write down at least 3 things, people, or experience you had that day that you are grateful for. Maybe they’re more general things, like “I’m grateful for a roof over my head,” or maybe they’re more detailed parts of your day, like “I’m grateful for the person who held the door while my hands were full.” Doing this every day will start to make all the positive things in your life more obvious. When something good happens – even something small – you’ll say “that’s something I can be grateful for.”
- Fake it. Even on days when you feel like everything is going wrong, fake it. Force that smile, say thank you even when you don’t want to, and be grateful for even the tiniest ray of sunshine. Just doing this will improve your attitude and trigger more positive thoughts.
- Reflect. In addition to keeping a journal, take time to reflect on your day, too. Ask yourself questions like: “what have I received today? What have I given today? What has been great about today?” This will help bring to light all the positive parts of your life that you may not have noticed as they were happening.
Do you wish to change your life and start seeing things in a different light? Is happiness something you’d like to feel? Then look around you today and acknowledge everything for which you are grateful. And give thanks. You’ll see changes quickly – and so will those around you!
